SERBIA

Another nice cover from Serbia, depicting 4 different stamps with paintings in Studenica Monastery. The Studenica Monastery, established in the late 12th century by Stefan Nemanja, founder of the medieval Serb state, is the largest and richest of Serbia’s Orthodox monasteries. Its two principal monuments, the Church of the Virgin and the Church of the King, both built of white marble, enshrine priceless collections of 13th- and 14th-century Byzantine painting. The Studenica Monastery is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1986.

Angra do Heroísmo, or simply Angra, is a city and municipality on Terceira Island, Portugal, and one of the three capital cities of the Azores. Founded in 1478, Angra was historically the most important city in the Azores, as seat of the Bishop of the Azores, government entities, and having previously served as the capital city of Portugal, during the Liberal Wars. The population in 2011 was 35,402,[in an area of 239.00 km². It was classified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1983

GERMANY

Another UNESCO cover from Germany with 3 stamps celebrating the "Bauhaus" buildings and its sites in Weimar, Dessau and Bernau. Founded in 1919 in Weimar, the Bauhaus was the most influential art school of the 20th century. The buildings designed by the masters of the Bauhaus are fundamental representatives of Classical Modernism. The joint heritage site includes the Bauhaus school buildings in Weimar and the Haus am Horn, Weimar; the Bauhaus Dessau building, the Meisterhäuser (where senior staff lived)and the Laubenganghäuser ('Houses with Balcony Access'); and the ADGB Trade Union School in Bernau bei Berlin. All this complex is inscribed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.

SPAIN

This UNESCO cover from Spain celebrates the Roman Walls of Lugo in Galicia province, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. The walls built to protect the Roman town of Lucus (Lugo) in the 3rd century remain entirely intact and are the best remaining example in Western Europe.

SWITZERLAND

This UNESCO cover from Switzerland celebrates the site called "Three Castles, Defensive Wall and Ramparts of the Market Town of Bellinzone". Inscribed as an UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000, the fortifications at Bellinzona protected the entrance to the Ticino valley and in turn the access to one of the most important Alpine passes, leading to north Italy. The bulk of the fortifications dates to the 15th century, though some parts are centuries older. The property comprises two castles, Castelgrande and Montebello, which are connected by walls, and a third castle, Sasso Corbaro, which was built on an isolated rocky promontory. The site is in an excellent state of conservation.
