TURKEY

A nice UNESCO cover from Turkey, featuring a miniature sheet issued in 2018 celebrating the Archaeological Site of Troy.
Troy, with its 4,000 years of history, is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. The first excavations at the site were undertaken by the famous archaelogist Heinrich Schliemann in 1870. In scientific terms, its remains are the most significant demonstration of the first contact between the civilizations of Anatolia and the Mediterranean world. Moreover, the siege of Try by Spartan and Achaean warriors from Greece in the 13th or 12th century B.C., immortalized by Homer in the Iliad, has inspired great creative artists ever since. Troy is inscribed at UNESCO list of world heritage sites since 1998.

POLAND

A nice UNESCO cover from Poland, depicting a a joint issue with Ukraine (from year 2015) on topic "Wooden Churches of the Carpathian region".
Situated in the eastern fringe of Central Europe, the transnational property numbers a selection of sixteen tserkvas (churches). They were built of horizontal wooden logs between the 16th and 19th centuries by communities of Orthodox and Greek Catholic faiths.

FRANCE

A nice UNESCO cover from France, featuring 2 stamps issued by the Unesco in Paris, in relation with World Cultural Heritage. The right stamp shows the Florida Panther and the left stamp celebrates the historic town of Samarkand, in Uzbekistan.
The historic town of Samarkand is a crossroad and meltinng pot of the world's cultures. Founded in the 7th century B.C. as ancient Afrasiab, Samarkand had its most significant development in the 14th to the 15hn centuries. The major monuments include the Registan Mosque and madrasas, Bibi-Khanum Mosque, etc.
The site is inscribed at UNESCO since 2001.

BELARUS

A nice UNESCO cover from Belarus, depicting a miniature sheet issued in 2008 celebrating the 425th anniversary of Nesvizh Castle.
The Architectural, Residential and Cultural Complex of the Radziwill Family at Nesvizh is located in central Belarus. The Radziwill dynasty, who built and kept the ensemble from the 16th century until 1939, gave birth to some of the most importante personalities in European history and culture. Due to their efforts, the town of Nesvizh came to exercise great influence in the sciences, arts and architecture. All the complex, including the castle, palaces and church, became importante prototypes marking the development of architecture in Central Europe and Russia.
